Canberra here we come!

My back has been getting a bit better each day and the lovely Osteo tonight confirmed that it would be reasonable to expect some continued improvement. Given I felt "kind of" comfortable with 7.5k on Monday and it is definitely better today I'm prepared to bank on some more improvement and give it a go on Sunday.

Since the injury I have not been expecting to run on Sunday and now I feel very unprepared mentally. I have a bazillion things to think about now and can't seem to focus on anything. Eg my Garmin wrist band broke a fortnight ago and I hadn't bothered getting it fixed.

With the starting temp tipped to be 2 degrees and getting towards 20 degrees by the time I finish I am also wondering what to wear. Perhaps I will stop and strip off my tights and change to shorts after the first lap? (Out of sight from the cheer squad, small children and old ladies of course).

So much to think about and so little time! 5 sleeps to go...

Yay Wob!!!! That is such fantastic news.

Its kinda good that you've only just decided, less time to panic. But 5 days is enough to get yourself organised.

Can't wait to catch up again.

I'm excited :-)))

Don't you dare stay "out of sight" of this old lady, Wobbly! Keep well now & you'll get all the old confidence back with a big rush on Sunday morning; you don't need it now! Till then just relax, forget the stupid old garmin & think about what fun it's going to be & all the encouragement we'll be getting along the way from other CRs & the aches & pains, no matter how bad, will be all the less for that.

Waiting for my hug!

Awesome news! I can't wait to read yours and Tesso's and everyone elses race reports!

(My Garmin band broke very early during my last marathon - so some of the race photos look like I have severe wrist problems because I was trying to hold onto my watch.) You can order a new band from Garmin - it's pretty cheap and it can be purchased on-line.)

Great news!!!
I was wondering how you were going to change to shorts, ahahaha!

How exciting!
Go wobbly, go wobbly!!!

Still five sleeps, you can plan it all, it was only a few days unplugged!!

4 sleeps now until the race Wobbly. Not enough time to panic. Just make sure you pack everything and take an hour before you go to bed each night to just visualise the race and what you are going to do ie. nutrition, water, clothing, pacing etc.

Fantastic news that your back is well enough to let you come along and do this. You have trained for it and in all aspects....you are ready.

Great news Wob. You can run with Garth if you need a Garmin spare. We just have to arrange to meet up somewhere. We'll be arriving on Sat night. I'll send you an email.

Way to go Wobbly!! The little distraction you've had in the past couple of weeks will actually work in your favour.

See you on Thursday to discuss the battle plan.

Good to hear Wobbly!

I vote you change in front of the cheersquad, that should get them excited :)

Fantastic to hear WM!!! Hope everything goes well in the rest of the lead-up to the race mate.

In relation to the cooler conditions, perhaps consider a pair of those white cotton laundry gloves you can find in the supermarkets for $2 (you usually get about 3 pairs in a pack). You could easily discard these early on in the race.

You could also consider the arm-warmers that cyclists commonly wear. They cost a bit more ($20-$30?) and you might want to hang onto them (stuff them in pockets etc?) but they are easy to remove without having to disrobe mid-race.

Great news WM - congratulations ;-)

I had the same lack of focus going into Six Foot - the injury becomes all consuming...

Never mind - once you start to meet up with other runners on the day before and/or on race morning things will start to come together mentally.

Lets just hope you don't leave your running shorts at home though ;-)

Great news WM! It could be perfect weather. If you're soft like CJ you could wear armwarmers and throw them away. It's been warming up quickly, so, if 2C at 6am it will be 10C at 8am.

Damn - if I'd known there was a strip show thrown in I would have robbed a bank.

I'm really glad for you Wobbly, look after yourself and I hope you continue to improve.

Well done Duncan! See you there. Sounds like you might be a possibility for the 'Free willie' run at King Island next year too?
