Some days I just don't want to

go out for my run but unless I can think of a good excuse I push myself out of the door and usually struggle the whole way. Today was one of those days.

After 15 mins of deliberation and listening to the unusual sound of rain, I got my running gear on and went out with Holly. What was planned as a medium-long run was never going to be, so I took the first return route home and completed just 5.8kms.

I ran slowly and not particularly well but I did get out there and that is about all that is worth saying about it.

(This is week 2 of a 14 week marathon program and already I'm slacking!)

You did better than me - I heard the rain, rolled over and went back to sleep. Still need to get 13km done today at some point though.....

You got out there, Wobbly. That's important.

The marathon is a beast that will punish you if you tackle it unprepared, but you have to balance that against flogging yourself against a program and starting to not enjoy your running. Look's to me like you've got a decent balance there.

Cheers,
Ben

Well done for getting out there!! I seem to have a cycle where I will feel on fire for about 3-4 weeks and then have a really flat week where it is all a struggle! I think it is your body putting its hand up for a rest? Keep it up you will hit the sweet spot again :-)

WM, we all have blah days; just don't make a habit of it. See you in 12 1/2 weeks time... :-)

Hey Wob, its good to get out there on the bad days like you did today, it makes you appreciate the good ones that much more!

Great effort to drag yourself out there Dunc. I find it can be hard after the initial excitement of selecting a goal and the novelty of setting up a new program starts to wear off and you actually have to start DOING something about it (I feel the same at the moment, if it's any consolation).

Hope you're bouncing out of bed in a day or two!

How can we ever know the great runs when we have them if we don't have these types of runs. You still were able to get some mileage in - good!!
