Dear Tim (running coach).....

Dear Tim,

Please belatedly excuse Wobbly Man from tonight's Speed work. You should not consider Wobbly's absence from speed work tonight to be a sign of his lack of commitment to his running or the recently dubbed "latte" running group.

Wobbly was absent from the track tonight because:

1) His shin feels a bit sore and he didn't want to push it hard today - particularly after his 16k mid-week run yesterday which seemed to go really well.

2) Mrs Wobbly unexpectedly bought Wobbly Man 1/2 dozen oysters for a little "treat" before dinner! Wobbly therefore didn't want to miss a chance to enjoy said oysters and any "little treats" that may follow....

Signed,

Wobbly's Mum

Wobbly, I assume that Tim is OM.... if so, I am sure he will be laughing a lot, but.... he will punish you at the next session (& I think you know that).

A very funny post!

Very Funny. Hope your "mum" approves.

1) Fair enough.

2) There's always time for running and er... "treats".

Did you have a glass of stout to wash the oysters down with, or was it bubbles??

Hello, thanks for the visits.
So, you were expecting three months for speed work, yes but impossible with shin pain.
Oysters? Much better than broccoli.

Dear Wobbly's Mum,

Thank you for the note informing of young Wobbly's non attendance at training.

Whilst the sore shin excuse has been accepted as a valid reason, I'm afraid the Oysters and subsequent sins of the flesh don't quite cut it. As a caring mother I would expect you to have greater control over your lascivious son!

Obviously we'll be covering Percy Cerutty's rules on "Stotan" living at Wobbly's next training session.

BTW - your letter has been posted on the news section of the HVT website - www.hvtraining.com - as an example to other squad members of Wobbly's questionable dedication to our noble sport.

Regards

Coach Tim

Oh Wobbly, now look what you've done! I can assure you there was plenty of chatter over the latte on Thursday night.

How many times have I told you not to substitute a hard session with cross-taining?

Oh my. Your mum must be hoping for some more grand-wobblettes, eh?

Family comes first, etc., but I bet your shin didn't hurt a bit during crosstraining...
