Wednesday recovery

An easy recovery run - easy pace but maybe it was anything but easy! My legs are still a little weary from Sunday's race and the wind this morning was blowing at about 20kmh (gusting to 30Kmh). It made it hard going particularly uphill into the wind.

At least I knew where gloves were this morning as it was a tad chilly at 5.5degrees and the wind chill seemed to make it even colder.

Holly was happy all the way around but the vet last weekend said I need to take it easier with her with running soon. I guess I will just take her on shorter runs from next week and the just walks.

Distance: 9.4k (not timed)

Next run: Friday 6k

Good effort in those conditions Wobbly!

A technique I use with my own aging border collie is to do my run, but loop back around home for the last 2kms or so, pick the 4-legged companion up, and take her for the warm-down. I have the problem that she can't keep up with anything longer than 10-15 minutes, so this suits her.

It might help you out with Holly - as long as she doesn't go berserk watching you take off for the first part of your run without her ;)

Wobblyman (!) don't know what way you generally run from Beaumaris, but I live in Parkdale and run my Sunday long runs down to Mordialloc and then along the Secondary Drain. Its anice run through the Wetlands all the way to Paterson Lakes, with a few roads in between that make nice km markers for me, measured off a Melways.

I know just how cold this morning must have been,Wobbly; I think we all got a bit of the same freezing conditions....right off the snow here.

I imagine Holly will be terribly upset if she sees you go out without her; I have to sneak out of the house because every time I leave, my 3 little ones think it's time for their ramble through the paddocks, where I take them every afternoon around 3:00pm; I must teach them how to tell the time!

I'd love to have been able to be with you all on Friday night, but I leave for Sydney Sunday morning by coach at 6:30a.m. Have a glass of 'red' for me & I hope we catch sight of each other somewhere on Sunday..you never know; stranger things have happened!

I'd love to have a dog to run with... would definitely solve my running alone at night safety dilemmas!

Great race report too - love seeing your splits and things. One day I'll crack 2 hours for the half, one day!
